About the Venue

Role Purpose

We're looking for an HR Advisor to support a busy, multi-site, multi-functional organisation and act as a primary people contact for operational managers and stakeholders across hospitality, retail, sports and entertainment, events and corporate.

The HR Advisor will cover the full generalist remit: employee relations, engagement, reward support, business partnering, and involvement in HR projects as the business continues to grow. This is a role with real breadth — you'll be advising on complex casework one day and shaping engagement strategy the next, all the while ensuring OVG is a great place to work.

The right candidate will need to be comfortable working at pace across a varied and demanding environment. You'll be organised, solutions-focused, and confident enough to push back when needed — while remaining a genuinely supportive partner to the managers and teams you work with.

What you'll be doing
  • Employee relations — owning ER casework end-to-end across the patch, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance. Providing sound, legally grounded advice to managers at all levels
  • Business partnering — acting as a trusted HR Advisor to operational managers and senior leaders, coaching them to manage their teams more effectively and make better people decisions
  • Engagement — contributing to and driving employee engagement initiatives, helping shape the people experience across multiple sites
  • Reward — supporting the development and communication of reward and recognition activity in line with business objectives
  • HR projects — getting involved in systems, learning and development, recruitment, and other people initiatives as the business scales — this is a growing organisation and there's no shortage of things to get involved in
  • Data and reporting — producing and interpreting people data to support managers and feed into senior HR reporting
  • Policy and compliance — maintaining and applying up-to-date knowledge of employment law and keeping the business on the right side of it
What we're looking for

An experienced HR Advisor or HR Generalist who has operated at pace in a complex, multi-site environment — ideally within hospitality, food and beverage, retail, or a similarly high-volume consumer-facing sector. You'll understand the rhythm of this kind of business and won't need much time to find your feet.

  • At least five years' HR experience, with a solid track record operating as an HR Advisor, HR Generalist, or similar generalist role
  • Strong, demonstrable ER experience — confident handling complex casework independently and advising managers with clarity and sound judgement
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards it — or equivalent experience that demonstrates the same depth of knowledge
  • Comfortable working across multiple sites and stakeholders, with the organisational skills to manage a varied and busy workload
  • A credible and personable communicator — someone managers and employees trust equally
  • Commercial awareness — you understand how people decisions affect business outcomes and you engage with that context, not just the process
  • Proactive and resilient — you stay solutions-focused under pressure and take ownership of your work
  • Background in branded hospitality, restaurants, food and beverage, or leisure is highly desirable — sector experience will be a genuine advantage

Good To Know

Please note this role pays £40-45,000 DOE and comes with an excellent benefits package including private healthcare, corporate gym discount, enhanced parental leave, tech and EV schemes, F&B discounts, ongoing training and much more.

This is generally a hybrid role; office location in WC2; you'll need to be London-based or within reach of our central London locations - the role is field based and will need to be present at our sites as and when needed.

This is a role with a genuine progression path. We're looking for an HR Advisor who has ambitions beyond this position — someone who wants to develop into an HR Manager or HR Business Partner over time and has the appetite to earn that. Within OVG, the opportunity to grow is real: the business is expanding and we promote and develop from within wherever we can.

Our Inclusion Commitments

OVG is for everyone. Diversity drives innovation, strengthens our people, improves our service, and raises our excellence.

Wherever you come from, wherever you are going, we’d love to hear from you.

If you need any additional support or adjustments with your application, let us know and we will work with you to ensure you have everything you need.

Employee Screening and Eligibility to Work

In line with the requirements of the Asylum & Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
